Tape Jelly

Tape warmth, wobble and wear from three eras of machine.

Tape Jelly is inspired by the sound of analog tape: the warmth, the gentle squeeze, the pitch that never sits perfectly still. Pick a machine, then slide from STABLE to WARPED and decide how far gone you want it.

What you get

• Three machines: 1940, 1960 and 1980, each with its own tone and its own hiss.
• The jelly slider: from STABLE to WARPED. One move sets how much the tape wobbles.
• Wow and Flutter: the slow wobble and the fast shimmer, each with its own speed.
• Squash: squeezes the sound together with a gentle tape push.
• Age: wears the tape out: duller, with dropouts and a level that wanders.
• Noise: as much hiss as you want, or none at all.
• Presets included, so a good sound is one click away.
• One payment, yours to keep.

What it is good for

• Warming up sounds that feel too clean and digital.
• Lo-fi keys, guitars and samples.
• Gluing a loop together so it sounds like one recording.
• Worn-out, dusty textures.

Requirements

• Mac: macOS 11 or later, Intel or Apple silicon. AU and VST3.
• Windows: Windows 8.1 or later, 64-bit. VST3.
• A DAW or host that loads AU or VST3 plugins.
